New Motorcycle Octane Boost Maximizes Power and Performance
01/03/12 18:50

AMSOIL Motorcycle Octane Boost (MOB) increases octane up to three numbers for maximum power and efficiency. It is designed to improve startup performance and eliminate engine ping or knock for increased power at low-rpm operation. It contains detergents that help maintain cleanliness of combustion chambers and fuel delivery systems for optimum performance. At the recommended treat rate, it does not harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors and is compatible with other AMSOIL fuel additives. Motorcycle Octane Boost is available in the U.S. only.

Briggs & Stratton partners with AMSOIL
11/12/11 11:02

This new oil will be sold exclusively through Briggs & Stratton, and the company has announced its availability in early 2012 for the upcoming racing season. They have elected to boldly display an AMSOIL logo on the packaging to boost the credibility of the product. Even though the oil is targeted for a very small niche market, the affiliation with such a widely recognized and highly regarded company will benefit AMSOIL Dealers by expanding AMSOIL brand awareness and opening a full range of sales opportunities.
Several additional details regarding this product and partnership remain to be worked out, and those details will be announced when the partnership is finalized.
Jiffy Lube Ditches the 3,000 Mile Oil Change
10/10/11 10:07
In a stunning front page of the business section article by Chris Woodyard in the USA Today newspaper published on 14 June 2011, a remarkable sea change in the arena of oil drain recommendations was revealed when Jiffy Lube, the largest quick-lube chain in The United States is reported to be officially recognizing an across the board 3,000 mile oil change is not necessarily in the best interest of its customers.
Auto and truck manufacturers changed their recommendations for longer oil drains of 5,000, 7,500, and up to 10,000 mile oil change intervals several years ago, but quick-lube chains have until now been reluctant to follow suit.
The quick-lube giant Jiffy Lube is providing customers with a kiosk at their store front locations which provides the shopper with a database of manufacturer’s recommendations for their particular vehicle. Some manufacturers such as General Motors recommend oil change intervals to as many as 10,000 miles with the use of a factory installed electronic oil change monitor.
GM acknowledged years ago that “Oil change intervals are determined by operating conditions and driver habits, not by miles driven —busting the 3,000-mile oil-change myth,” GM’s Pam Flores is quoted as saying.

AMSOIL Price Adjustment Effective July 1

AMSOIL Price Adjustment Effective July 1(Close of Business June 30)
Multiple price increases from suppliers and skyrocketing freight costs have forced AMSOIL to implement a price adjustment effective July 1.
The adjustment mainly affects lubricants. AMSOIL has received price increases from base oil and additive suppliers as recently as today, and therefore cannot yet determine the exact percentage of increase necessary; however, it is expected to be approximately 3 to 8 percent. While the adjustment affects both the U.S. and Canada, the percentage of increase may vary in each country as conditions dictate.
AMSOIL refrains from adjusting pricing as much as possible. Unfortunately, the current market is not conducive to long-term pricing stability. While crude has recently demonstrated marginal stability, chemical suppliers continue to increase costs, citing tight supply within the industry and noting the lag between the increased price of crude and increased costs of producing high-quality raw materials. This is affecting all lubricant manufacturers.
As AMSOIL prepares to implement its third price adjustment since January 1, some competitors have already imposed their fourth price increase this year.
Updated pricing information will be available in the Product Pricing Interface in the Dealer Zone as soon as possible. Servicing Dealers are encouraged to inform their customers and accounts of the price adjustment; however, retail and commercial accounts will be notified of the impending price change by email, postcard and an Account Zone message.
The AMSOIL Retail Catalog (G100, G300), Wholesale Price Lists (G3500, G8500) and Dealer Profit List (G3501) will be revised to reflect new pricing and commissions; watch the Dealer Zone for an announcement of availability. Repeated price adjustments prevented inserting the AMSOIL Retail Catalog in AMSOIL Magazine this Spring.
AMSOIL plans to include the catalog in AMSOIL Magazine at the next regularly scheduled catalog revision October 1.
